9/22.- Wallonia: Dinant: Citadel and Our Lady's Church
The town of Dinant is built on a narrow 4-km strip between
the cliffs and
the Meuse river. Dinant has two specialties: objects in tooled
brass and
copper called dinanderies, and a hard honey-flavored kind of
pastry in many
shapes and sizes, called couques de Dinant. Dinant is the home
of Adolphe
Sax, the Belgian inventor of the saxophone and several other
musical
instruments, which can be viewed in the Museum of Musical Instruments
in
Brussels.
