8/22.- Wallonia: The Annevoie Gardens
The Annevoie gardens were built on a hillside by a wealthy
noblemean in the
18th century. A reservoir at the top of the hillside gathers
water from a
river and a source, and thus feeds water into the garden's 50
or so
fountains, all of which operate simply by gravity flow, without
recourse to
pumping mechanisms. The paths and plantations follow the geometrical
patterns of "French" gardens but make skilful use
of the natural scenery.
