7/29.- Flanders: Bruges, Virgin and Child by Michelangelo

Our Lady's Church (Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk) is host to the only sculpture by Michelangelo outside Italy. The white marble sculpture, bought and donated by a wealthy merchant, represents the Virgin Mary with Jesus as a young boy. The same church also contains the tombs of Charles the Bold and Mary of Burgundy. Mary's tomb is decorated with a reclining statue.
