Brussels, The Holy Heart Basilica
The Basilica of the Holy Heart at Koekelberg dominates Brussels
from a hill at the Westernmost part of town. It is not a beautiful
church - far from it - but an impressive one. Building was started
in 1905 and was not finished until 1970. There are religious
services, of course, but the immense space inside is also used
for exhibitions and concerts. From the terraces circling the
dome, the view is impressive, but broken by the Basilica’s
own towers.
