13/35.- Shangri-La, old town

Local Chinese authorities are promoting the city of Shangri-La as a tourist destination. Not many foreign tourists have heard of Shangri-La, but Chinese tourism is booming in the city.

The old town is not very big. The center of the town is the market square, where you will find some stalls selling typical Tibetan food. This part of the city is pedestrian only. All houses in old Shangri-La are made of wood.
