6/10.-Chengdu, Wenshu Monastery
In the alley leading to the monastery there is a market with
prayer
and funeral goods. In this market
locals
buy
paper goods for the departed. In the picture you can see one of the statues in the Wenshu Monastery Park.
Chengdu is very well
connected
with the rest of China by air. The Airport, which
also has
international flights, is 45 minutes from the city center. You can get there by bus or by taxi.
Chengdu
has a major
train station, with direct trains to China's main destinations.
Since the opening of the Lhasa-Beijing railway, many foreigners fly to Chengdu and take the Lhasa train from here. The most beautiful part of this journey, the Qinghai Tibetan Plateau, starts in Sichuan Province. From Chengdu it takes "only" 24 hours to get to Lhasa by train (from Beijing it takes more than 48 hours). Since the opening of this train line, Chengdu has attracted many tourists. Many of them take the plane, for this reason it is not as easy as it used to be to get a discount air ticket to Chengdu.
