Elmali Kilise or the Apple Church is a typical example of inscribed-cross churches. The frescoes are vivid with scenes from the Life of Christ and the Bible. The frescoes represent scenes of the Baptism, Crucifixion, Betrayal by Judah, the Last Supper, the Entry into Jerusalem, the Raising of Lazarus, the Ascension and the four Evangelists. The predominant colors are blue, yellow, red, brown and white. There are also traces of the red archaic decoration from the Iconoclastic Period.
