Do you play chess? I guess you can know who won the game then. This giant chessboard is by Blanes' promenade. This promenade goes from the harbor all the way through the camping sites. In august, the 'festa major' (=summer festivals) takes place here. Several activities take place during this week. Specially popular are the night concerts.
The origins of the town of Blanes are not clear. Some historians say the village has a Greek origin. Others say the first to settle here were the Romans. It is only sure that the first ruins have an Iberian origin --more or less from the 2nd century BC.
