Amsterdam’s largest park, it is also the most centrally located. Named after poet and playwright Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679), the park used to be an open-air dormitory to alleviate the lack of accommodation in the 1960’ and 70’ for hordes of hippies descending on Amsterdam. Today it is a most popular park for all, and is a very nice place to have a walk or just sit on the grass and relax. The Filmmuseum is located inside the park.
