Northeast of Odeonplatzt is the Hofgarten, an Italian inspired garden, worth visiting if you like plants and flowers. Originally the garden was the playground of the Wittelsbach, the rulers of Bayern from the beginning of the 12th century to 1918. The Hofgarten is part of the Residenz.
