31/50.- Munich, Odeonsplatz, Feldherrnhalle

Menu

The Odeonplatz is a square built at the end of the 18th century in the place where the old Shwabinger Tor used to stand. This old gate connected Munich with the neighboring village of Schwabing in the old times.

The design of the Odeonplatz was commissioned by Ludwig I to von Klenze, who was fascinated by Italian architecture.

One of the main constructions in Odeonplatz is Feldherrnahalle, a three-arched structure built in honor of Bayern generals, with evident Italian influences.
