12/33.- Lisbon, "Padrao dos
Descobrimentos"
After a decadence period, Lisbon had a second golden age in the
18th century, linked to the Gold mines in Brazil.
After a military
coup The Dictator Antonio Salazar took the power in 1926.
The dictator, and his successor Marcelo Caetano,
exploited the domestic workers and African colonies
richness. In 1974 Portugal recovered its parliamentary
Republic, after a 50 years dictatorship on the 25th of
April.
We are looking at
the "Padrao dos Descobrimentos". From here, we can see a
spectacular view of the city bay. At the right you see
the "Ponte 25 de Abril" over the Tejo River.
