11/33.- Lisbon,
"Praça do Império"
Lisbon has an unknown origin. We know that
the romans named it "Olisipo" and that in 714 it was invaded
by the Muslims. In 1147 Lisbon was incorporated to The reign
of Portugal. It became its Capital in times of Alfonso I of
Portugal.
In the 15th and
16th centuries Lisbon was an economical and trading
center. Its harbor distributed the Portuguese Colonies
exportations (spices, gold, sugar, and slaves) to
Europe.
Well see a
monument that commemorates those times, the "Padrao dos
Descobrimentos" ...
