Figueira Square is the other main squares in the Low District area.

Short after the discovery of America by Colombus, Portuguese Explorers sailed around the Cape of Good Hope (Vasco da Gama) and around the world (Magellan) thanks to revolutionary ship building techniques.

The new territories discovered brought a prosperous age to Portugal. Arts and architecture evolved to the eccentric Manueline Style.
