13/35.- Avignon, Place de l'Horloge

Leaving the 'Place du Palais' you get to the 'Place de l'Horloge' (=Clocktower Square). In this square you will not only find the merry-go-round you see in the photo and many bars and restaurants, but also three interesting houses: the Town Hall, the Jean Vilar House and the Opera.

The Town Hall was erected in 19th century, surrounding a 14th century tower. The Jean Vilar House, on Mons street, is a lovely 17th century building, and currently houses the Avignon Festival archives and many objects related to the theater and dance world.
