13/50.- Kyoto, Chishakuin Temple

Not far from Sanjusangendo Temple is the Chishakuin Temple. This temple belongs to the Chisan Shingon sect, and it is the first in the 13 Buddhas Pilgrimage (Jusan Butsu). This pilgrimage covers 13 temples in Kyoto dedicated to images of the main divinities of Shingon Buddhism.

In each of the temples you exchange one of the pages of your pilgrims's book for one stamped by the temple's pilgrimage office. Then go to the Buddha image, leave some money in the donation box, ring the bell three times and say a prayer.
