29/32.- Hiroshima, Miyajima, Daishoin Temple, gate

In this picture you can see one of the images that guard the entrance to the temple. All Buddhist temples in Japan have similar figures. They are here in order to scare away evil spirits.

On Miyajima Island there are many souvenir shops and restaurants. The typical souvenirs from Miyajima are the rice scoops, or wooden spoons for serving rice.
