Xian is one of the cradles of the ancient Chinese civilization. 13 dynasties ruled the country from Xian: the Western Zhou (11th century BC to 8th century BC), the Qin Dynasty ( 3rd century), the Western Han Dynasty (3rd Century BC to 1st century BC), and the Tang Dynasty (7th century to 10th century).
