27/40.- Xian, Defensive Wall, North Gate

The City Defensive Wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).

In the picture you have the North Gate. One of my recommendations on a visit to Xian is a stroll on the City Walls. It is also possible to ride a bike on the city ramparts. In order to get onto the wall, you have to get to one of the main gates, and find the way in. In my case, I started at the North Gate (in the picture).

You have to buy an entrance ticket. If you want to rent a bike, it will cost you some RMB's more. For lazy people there are also electric cars.
