25/40.- Xian, Great Mosque

The buildings and courtyards in the Great Mosque follow a Chinese traditional architectural style, but as opposed to the Buddhist temples, the main axis of the temple is aligned east to west, facing the Mecca.

There are five consecutive Courtyards, with their signature pavilions and gateways, that lead to the prayer hall, at the western end of the complex.
