North of Shangri-La are the mountains that separate Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.

To access these roads you will need a four-wheel drive vehicle. You can rent a car, and drive it yourself; or join an organized tour. You will find travel agencies in Chengdu and Lijiang that have tours to this region.
