13/43.- Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden, Shopping street

Yu Yuan is an open area, but if you want to visit the Yu Yuan Chinese Garden you will have to buy an entrance ticket. This Garden is one of the most famous tourist attractions among Chinese. The Garden was built in 1559 during the reign of Emperor Jiajing, from the Ming Dynasty. Originally it was the private garden of Pan Yunduan, the governor of Sichuan Province. He built this garden in order to please his parents. That is why the Garden is called Yu, which in Chinese means "peace and health".

The Yuyuan Garden is a great place to relax. The garden itself is quite big, it will take more than two hours to visit. Sights you should not miss are the Grand Rockery, the Ten Thousand Flower Pavilion, The Hall of Jade Magnificence, The Hall of Heralding Spring, the Dragon Wall and the Lotus Pool.
