10/43.- Shanghai, Yuyuan Garden, statue

The origins of the Yuyuan Garden and Bazaar date back to the 16th century. During the latter years of the Qing Dynasty a marketplace known as the Chenghuang Miao used to be here. Nowadays the Yuyuan Bazaar is the place to shop for traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

There is a big mall, called the Hua Bao Building, which is the place to go for precious articles. In the shops in this building you will find traditional costumes, calligraphy paintings, pottery, ceramics, ivory and wood wares, among many other souvenirs.
