20/37.- Litang Horse Festival, skills competition

On the first day of the Festival, Tibetans show off their riding skills in a competition.

The range of accommodation in Litang is not sufficient to accommodate all visitors during the Festival. Most of the Tibetans stay in friends' homes, or in tents. Tourists stay in local hotels, but some of them opt for a Tibetan tent too.

If you are traveling on your own, book ahead, or you may have difficulties finding a place to stay.

Hotels in the area are very basic. Most of them have shared bathrooms and showers. Conditions in some of the old hotels are tough. I do not know of any western standard hotels in the area.
