22/26.- Hangzhou, Xiaoxiao's Tomb

Su Xiaoxiao was a courtesan and poet from the Southern Qi Dynasty (5th Century AD) known for her intellectual talent and beauty. Xiaoxiao died young, at the age of 19 , but her life soon became an inspiration for many Chinese writers and poets. For more than one thousand years her body has rested in peace in a tomb next to the West Lake.

The tomb was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution , but has recently been rebuilt. The Tomb of Xiaoxiao is one of Hangzhou's most popular attractions among locals.
