10/26.- Hangzhou, Lingyin Temple, wall

Behind the first pavilion there is a second, smaller, courtyard. Climbing a stairway you get to a second pavilion. In Chinese temples, the most important pavilions are always at the end of the complex, where gods are more protected from evil spirits.

Lingyin temple has a total of three pavilions: the Hall of the Heavenly King, the Hall of the Great Hero, and the Hall of the Buddha of Medicine.

In this picture you can see the sculptures that decorate the stairway that leads to the second pavilion.
