37/46.- Beijing, Beijing Snacks
The most famous snack street in Beijing is the Donghuamen Night Market, located at the northern entrance of Wangfujing. When night falls these Snack-stalls open. Here you can taste snacks from Beijing and from other regions. Snacks are very popular among locals. Tourists cannot resist them either. Some of the stalls that attract more attention are the ones that sell insect snacks. I am not sure if this is a Beijing tradition, though. I did not see any Chinese eating insects in Beijing. All I saw were foreigners taking pictures of the smiling vendors with their exotic snacks. A local I asked told me she did not even know insect snacks existed at all.
If you want a more proper meal, you
should
have to go to one of
the restaurants that serve the world famous Beijing Duck. You
will find Beijing restaurants throughout the city. A good place
to start is, again, Wangfujing pedestrian street.
In Beijing you will also find
a variety of
r
regional cuisine. If you like spicy food, I recommend Sichuan
Restaurants.
For a quick meal, go to one of the malls, they
have excellent food courts. Some of these malls
also have nice elegant restaurants.
Now it is time to visit one of
Beijing's
most
popular markets, the Silk Market.
