18/46.- Beijing, Wang Fu Jing

Beijing has been a shopping destination since the time of the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368). The most famous shopping streets in Beijing are Wangfujing, Dongdanbei, Liulichang, Longfusi, Qianmen, Xidanbei, Xiusuhi and Cultural Street. But note that you will find shops and malls scattered throughout the city.

Wangfujing, in the picture, is the most famous shopping street in Beijing. This is a traffic-free street in the center of the city. Some of the shops and restaurants you will find here are the Arts and Crafts Mansion, the New Dong'an Bazaar, the Foreign Language Bookstore, the Shengxifu Hat Store, the Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant and the Vegetarian Restaurant. Shops are rather upmarket, prices should not be negotiated here.
