12/46.- Beijing, Tian an Men, Great Hall of the People

West of Tiananmen is the "Great Hall of the People", a soviet looking building that hosts the Chinese Parliament. On this side of the square some of the country's main official bodies used to sit during imperial times. Among them, the Supreme Court, the Board of Punishments and the Office of Censors. Unfortunately nothing remains of them today.

Tiananmen Square is, no doubt, the largest square in the whole world. If you happen to be here around October the 1st, Chinese National Day, do not miss the military display that takes place here every year. Watch out for the crowds, though!
