23/33.- Grand Canyon National Park, Colorado River

In this picture you can see the river Colorado. The brown color of the river is the result of the materials the river carries, eroded from the river banks.

If you want, you can hike down to the river. You should only hike if you are fit. The trek will take you several hours. It should not be attempted to hike from the rim to the river and back in one day. There is a trail down to the river west of Bright Angel Lodge. Go to the Visitor Center at Canyon View Information Plaza, to check the weather and trail conditions.

It is also possible to go down the river on a mule. Booking well in advance is recommended.
