3/44.- Chicago, Downtown Chicago
Let's start our virtual tour in downtown Chicago. Here we are by the Michigan Avenue bridge
which crosses the Chicago River. The River runs through the center of town, separating "the
Loop" (Chicago's historic central business district) from "Near North. " That building with the
clock tower is the Wrigley Building, built in 1920, and one of Chicago's oldest skyscrapers.
Chicago has a lot of architecturally interesting buildings, and one of the most popular things to
do when visiting the city is to take one of the boat, bus, or walking tours offered by the Chicago
Architecture Foundation.
