13/50.- New York, Grand Central

After the 1997 multi-million dollar restoration, Grand Central Station has recovered its splendorous past. Since then, new shops have opened their doors in this 1913 Beaux Arts building. One of the things that I will call your attention to here is the decorated ceiling. Paul Helleu, a French artist, painted the zodiac signs over a blue sky on this huge vaulted ceiling. Recessed electric lights make stars shine in the “sky.” Click on the photo to see the Grand Central virtual picture.

Not far from here sits one of the tallest buildings in town ... The Chrysler Building.
