8/24.- Nassau, Straw Market

The Straw Market is a gaudy assemblage of stalls staffed by black Mamas, where local artifacts are sold as souvenirs. Local craftwork includes straw objects (as the name suggests) like hats and baskets, but also carved wood, sea-shell necklaces and bracelets, colorful beach towels, shirts and T-shirts in all colors and sizes.
