7/24.- Nassau, Bay Street
Bay Street in downtown Nassau is the main artery and nerve center of town.
It is often jammed with vehicles, but the traffic is diverted whenever
there is one of the many colorful and boisterous parades, the most famous
of these being the Junkanoo African dance festival, accompanied by goombay
drums and cowbells. Surprisingly, the music played by the brass bands
often consists of rhythmic renderings of Christian hymns.
