3/28.- Arenal National Park, the Arenal Volcano, columns of lava

In this picture you can see why so many tourists come to Arenal: the columns of red lava going down the volcano. Note that they are only visible at night. During the daytime you will only see the smoke coming from the volcano's craters.

The Arenal Volcano can be seen from the town of La Fortuna, but if you want to get a better view, you have to join one of the volcano tours. In the town of La Fortuna you will find travel agencies offering guided tours. Most hotels and restaurants also offer these services.
