1/28.- Welcome to the Arenal and Monteverde National Parks!

The Arenal is one of the most visited destinations in Costa Rica. In this National Park you can see one of the most famous active volcanoes in the world, the Arenal. Before 1968 locals did not know this mountain was a volcano. That year, in a tragic eruption, the volcano killed several dozen people. Since then, the Arenal volcano has not stopped pouring out lava.

In the Arenal National Park you can also visit the rain forest, do some nice treks, have a swim in a waterfall, have a thermal bath and many more things.

On the following pages I will give you a sneak preview of this area, and of the neighboring Monteverde National Park.
