In downtown São Paulo you will find the cathedral, the financial institutions' headquarters and some shopping malls.

The cathedral of São Paulo is rather modern (from the first half of the 20th century). The exterior is much more spectacular than its interior, which is quite basic. Masses are held every day. The square outside the Cathedral is a popular gathering point. Street preachers are common.

Walking downhill from the cathedral, you will get to some of the busiest commercial streets in São Paulo.
