16/40.- São Paulo, Catedral Ortodoxa

The Orthodox Cathedral in São Paulo was constructed in the 1940's. The design of this church was inspired by the Sancta Sophia Cathedral in Istanbul. This is one of the few examples of the Byzantine architecture in South America. This church is home to the archdiocese of the Orthodox Catholic Church of São Paulo and Brazil.

From here you can take the metro (line 1) in Paraíso Station, and go to the downtown area (Sé Station).
