43/50.- Rio de Janeiro, Carnival in Sambodrome

You can also buy an entrance to one of the exclusive boxes. These seats are the best, and the most expensive. The boxes have capacity for 12 people. And they not only offer the best views of the Sambodrome, but you also get free drinks and food.

To get to the Sambodrome, which is not far from the city center, you can take a taxi or the metro, or ask your hotel for a pick up service.

To get back to your hotel once the show is over, or when you are tired, you can take the metro or a taxi. Queues to get a taxi late in the night can be very long. I would recommend going for the metro. The closest metro station is less than 10 minutes away on foot on a normal day. During carnival, with the crowds, it can be half an hour. On the way to the metro you will see many of the participants with their costumes, which will make the trip to the metro a thrilling experience.
