42/50.- Rio de Janeiro, Carnival in Sambodrome

The show in the Sambodrome is unique in the world, and it will make the visit to Rio during the carnival worthwhile. The show is massive! Tens of thousands of people take part in the parade, with more than 80,000 spectators.

To access the Sambodrome you have to pay an entrance fee. You can buy the tickets in your hotel or in any travel agency in Rio. The show takes place in carnival, from Friday to Tuesday night. On Friday the children's carnival takes place, in the afternoon. The rest of the days the carnival parades take place at night. The official starting hour is around 19h, but the show does not start till 21h. It is a good idea to get to the Sambodrome soon, in order to get a good seat.

Your ticket will give you access to a section. The seats closer to the avenue are the ones that will fill sooner. The show lasts several hours (till 5 am). Later in the night people who had the best seats will leave, giving you the opportunity to take one.
