Rio de Janeiro, Centro
The dress code for Rio is extremely casual. Men should wear old T-shirts and swimming trunks. Local women wear sexy clothes. Female foreign tourists can wear a T-shirt and bermuda shorts, or a bikini and a beach wrap around the waist. Sandals (flip flops) are the unofficial footwear. You will find flip flops for sale everywhere; in shops, street stalls and even supermarkets.
It is better not to bring any bag while visiting Rio. And do not carry anything inside your pockets. Pickpockets work everywhere in Rio. Crowded places should be avoided. Special care should be taken in street parties, buses and at night. Rio is known as a city of violent crime. But I did not see any dangerous situations at all. If you stick to tourist places, where local police patrol, you should be safe.
