10/16.- Porto Seguro, Cidade Historica, church detail

In the picture you can see a detail of one of the churches in old Porto Seguro.

After the visit to the Historical Center, which is better done in the morning, you can go to the beach and lie under one of the umbrellas. I would recommend accompanying the stay with one of the most popular drinks in Brazil, a caipirinha (rum liquor, lime, sugar and ice). On Porto Seguro's beaches you will find many beach shacks (or "barraca de praia"), that sell it. In these shacks you will see many locals enjoying the local music.

Most of Porto Seguro's population has an African origin, but foreing visitors will easily blend in because in the area there are many tourists from other parts of Brazil.
