The Town Hall is located on a nice square. In this picture you can see the building with some of the puppets used during Olinda's Carnival.
The Carnival in Olinda is one of the most famous in Brazil. If you have already been to the carnivals in Salvador and Rio, or if you want a less commercial one you should come to Olinda's carnival. The festival takes place in the town's streets. Giant puppets are carried on the shoulders of the locals accompanied by frevo and maracatu music. The carnival starts one week before the official date, and lasts a few days after the official end.
Taking one of the streets downhill we will get to the Church of São Pedro.
