23/50.- Red Sea, scuba diving, purple coral
It is very important to follow some basic rules
when snorkeling or scuba diving in these waters. We could summarize
all the norms in two: do not touch and do not take away anything!
The Red Sea is Egypt's main treasury, in my opinion it is much
worthier than the ancient Egypt's ruins. For this reason it is very
important that all visitors contribute to preserve it as it is. Almost
all the coast of the Egypt's Red Sea is currently protected. Some
illegal actions can have very negative consequences (for the
environment and for the diver). It is absolutely forbidden to touch
anything (not even the stones). It is also forbidden to feed the fishes. Of course fishing is an illegal activity also. Gloves are illegal
in some areas, and should be avoided. Divers must be very careful
no to touch the bottom of the sea with the fins; corals are delicate
creatures and even a small cloud of sand can be lethal.
It is also very important not to take away
anything from the beaches. Bags are checked in the area airports,
so if you have a temptation you better think it twice. If all visitors
follow these simple rules, we will be able to enjoy this magic seascape
for many more years.
