46/50.- Luxor, Hatshepsut temple, door
One of the things about Hatshepsut's
life that called my attention, was that she adopted the full pharaonic
regalia, including a false beard. Which, as you can imagine, was traditionally
worn only by the king. No, I didn't see any image of her with the
beard.
During Hatshepsut's reign,the
empire experienced an innovation and commercial expansion. The
products of these new tributes and trades were devoted to Amon-re
(the god of gods), in whose honor Hatshepsut undertook an extensive
building program. But Hatshepsut will always be remembered for
this mortuary temple at Dayr al-Bahri.
Well, my friend, the visit to the temples of Luxor finishes here. We will now take a look at some of the streets in the town center. On the following pages I will give you some practical information
about this city.
