11/50.- Luxor, butcher's

Before visiting the other monuments in the area we will take a look at the street markets in the city of Luxor. As you can see in the photo they are very picturesque. Here you have one of the many butchers I saw in the popular streets.

If you think this doesn't look very hygienic, just remember they don't have the mad cows disease here. You can eat all the meat you want, it is much healthier than what it looks like. You definitely have to take care with the food you eat in Egypt. You have to be careful with vegetables and fruits, especially in restaurants, because most of them are cleaned with tap water. This water is not dangerous, locals drink it everyday after all. But I am afraid our Western stomachs are not used to it. It is recommended to drink only bottled water, but even so it is difficult that you finish your Egyptian vacations without a diarrhea.
