10/43.- Aswan, Elephantine island

The Corniche by the Nile is one of the most beautiful sites in Egypt. From this side of the river you can see the falucas sailing, and the nice Elephantine island.

The Elephantine island is the place where the oldest ruins in Egypt have been found. Locals inhabited this island already before the first Egyptian dynasties, more then 5,000 years ago.

In this photo you can see part of this island. At the bottom you can see the tip of one of the many boats that cruise the Nile from here to Luxor.

We will now take a ferry and visit the Elephantine island...
