9/43.- Aswan, spices

Spices are the other typical souvenir. You will find all kinds of spices in shops like this in the Aswan bazaar. In this colorful photo you can see a well stocked shop.

The most typical spices are the karkadel (the red one at the bottom of the image), a flower used in infusions; the indigo (the blue one at the right) used to dye clothes and henna (the white one, next to the indigo), which Nubians use to dye their hairs and to do the popular henna tattoos.
