Simbel, Hathor Temple, way out
You can see here the huge Lake Nasser from inside
the Hathor Temple. In the left you see one of
the temple's
guardians. They are here to guard
the temple and to guide visitors, but most of the time
they just stand waiting for a baksheesh (=money). In this
temple they did not ask for a tip, but in many
other temples I visited in Egypt they did. Usually
temples' guides are nice with visitors, showing them
places they would have missed. Remember that giving a
baksheesh is not an obligation, but it is a good way to
spend your spare Egyptian notes (in Egypt coins are
extremely rare).
