Simbel, Abu Simbel Temple, Ramses II colossus
The Colossi of the king, as the rest of the temple,
were carved out of solid rock. The
statues of Ramses
II wear the double crown (symbolizing his
rule over of upper and lower Egypt), and the
characteristic Nemes head cloth. On his forehead, the
royal Uraeus, protects him against all evil.
